How to De-Stress For a Perfect Nights Sleep

How to De-Stress for a perfect night's sleep -

There isn’t enough time in the day is there? We want to get everything done all at once before we get our vital sleep. Sometimes sleeping isn’t even a priority. I know I can completely relate, as a busy day for me will leave me with less than 5 hours sleep some nights. Obviously, this is terrible and I nearly ALWAYS end up crashing one day out of the week. All the missed sleep that week comes right back to bite me in the middle of the day, my skin will break out and I’ll feel even more stressed.
This is why I came up with a night-time routine to de-stress, relax and help me catch some major ZzZzzZZzzz.

Pukka Detox Tea - How to De-Stress for a perfect night's sleep -

After drinking detox tea, I always feel refreshed. That same feeling after coming out of a shower, is the same sensation I feel after drinking this tea. My favourite is the organic detox by Pukka. A detox tea contains Aniseed, fennel, cardamom and liquorice root, to help flush away those toxins while lightly catering to your  sweet tooth. Infuse for 15 mins and drink up!

Clinique 3 step - How to De-Stress for a perfect night's sleep -

I use the Clinique 3 Step system tailored for my own skin type, but what really makes the difference to my skin is my Magnitone London Facial Cleansing brush. I can clean my face, apply a facemask and more, but for some reason it still isn’t clean. When I use the Magnitone, I found that makeup and dirt slides right off my skin. You don’t realize how filthy your skin is until you see the dirt drip off onto the brush. It scrubs layers much deeper than your hands can get to making sure there is no left-over makeup or dirt left on your skin.

I also use the Bubble-gum flavour lip scrub by LUSH. Before using this I would constantly have dry or chapped lips in the morning, I didn’t realise that a simple daily exfoliate could drastically improve the moisture and the colour of my lips. Following this I apply The Body Shop Grapeseed Glossing Serum to my hair.

LUSH Bubblegum lip scrub - How to De-Stress for a perfect night's sleep -

multi mask- How to De-Stress for a perfect night's sleep -

I always multi mask as my skin type VARIES throughout my face. I tend to break out around my jaw, chin and forehead, which is why I like to use the Retexturizing Rose Clay Mask by Origins. Due to my breakouts constantly causing acne scars, this mask is perfect for a deep clean and refining my skins texture. In all the other areas, I love to apply the Chinese Ginseng and Rice Clarifying Polishing Mask by The Body Shop. This mask is perfect for providing a deep clean and a soft finish.

 photo multimask_zpsu74iaixi.gif

No routine is complete without the relaxing music to put me in the chill mood. I Made a perfect throwback R&B Jamz playlist to tailor to my night mood.  Making a playlist on Spotify is free and easy! You should try it, plus it's the perfect prep for your shower karaoke session.

Do you remember always falling asleep after a hot bath as a child? Nothing has changed as an adult. The hot water is soothing all over and will leave you begging for your bed. Personally, I prefer a steamy shower. Baths are time consuming and as I mentioned before, there really isn’t enough time in the day.

I Love to use the two-day moisture shower oil by Sanctuary Spa Covet Garden. It has a slightly warming effect (if your showers aren’t hot enough already). When you rub it into your skin it feels like you’re having a massage. It’s heavenly for sure, and my skin feels silky smooth after using it. It doesn’t quite last two days for me, as my skin is naturally dry and dehydrated. I found that the softness will last roughly 5-8 hours.

MICHEAL PHELPS - LEESA MATTRESS How to De-Stress for a perfect night's sleep -

This is probably the most important part. You can’t get a good night’s rest in an uncomfortable bed! If your mattress is super uncomfortable (like mine) try laying on some fluffy pillows, or consider getting a new mattress. Leesa Mattress are five-star quality, fit for celebrities like Michael Phelps and of course the Kings and Queens you are! You should check them out!

5 tips for travelling long flights with a 5 year old

5 tips for traveling long flights with a 5 year old - stealstylist.com5 IMPORTANT TIPS YOU NEED TO KNOW IF YOU ARE TRAVELLING WITH A FIVE YEAR OLD

Honestly I can not stress how important it is to make sure you are carrying the least amount of hand luggage possible. I know you're probably thinking "but I need to carry my entire existence with me!" Trust me I've been fling on airplanes with my daughter from birth to current age 5 and the times I was least stressed, was when I didn't have to worry about hand luggage.

Let me break it down for you .
You may think two people means two hand luggage's right?  - WRONG!

A five year old is not going to pull their hand luggage around the airport the entire trip. So who is going to have to carry/pull  that hand luggage, while pulling your own . While Also needing quick access to the important things you need to pull out every five minutes, like your boarding pass and passport . Let's not forget the drama you have to ensue during TSA . All electronics must be taken out of the hand luggage . All small liquids must be taken out, coats off, possibly shoes and the list goes on . What if s/he gets tired? How could you possibly pull two hand luggage bags and maybe carry a whining sleepy five year old , god forbid you may want to grab a coffee while you're at the airport waiting . I know we are super moms, but I think I need to grow a few extra arms and do a couple more bench presses before that happens . Surely you get my point .

Less is most certainly more . I recommend a simple small backpack for all the major essentials, and ONE standing upright small cabin size hand luggage for everything else . Be sure to get a hand luggage bag that has upright zips.  The last thing you want is to be laying your luggage down to open it ( which I'm positive you over packed anyway ) and then trying to squeeze it back shut. Make sure you buy a very Small hand luggage size . Every plan is different and their overhead bins are not the same size . Your luggage may fit in one plane but not the next .  So for all us budget friendly moms who don't usually fly direct to our final destination there's a high chance one of the planes is a short haul plane. These are incredibly smaller get filled up quickly and sometimes don't even have space to fit your luggage!  Trust me, the smaller the hand luggage the better .  Make sure it has four wheels so you can move faster and front pockets to shove last minute things in , like your iPad and phone after TSA .

Okay so you're probably thinking why do I need to do this ? There's plenty of in flight entertainment.

Wrong again ! Yes there is entertainment but who's to say it's what your child wants to watch?  Kids get bored very easily . How exactly can a five year old endure an 8 hour flight watching the same two episodes of Peppa pig, or movies she has probably already seen too many times to count?  My daughter is a movie junkie and she also loves watching her favourite YouTube episodes over and over again . Wouldn't it make sense to fill up an iPad/tablet with 8hours of episodes she loves to watch regularly ? YouTube videos are completely free to download and you can grab them by heading to . Simply copy and paste the urls of the videos in their downloader and simply drag and drop the files into a folder on your memory card ! Or import to iTunes if you are using an apple product.
5 tips for traveling long flights with a 5 year old -

Also I don't know about your five year old but mine is quite small . These in seat entertainment screens are made for eye level of a grown adult , and they do not swivel down . Only up (no idea what sense that makes but plane designers need to re think how they can target the kids too. )
Don't forget a USB charger and an international plug piece. When you are in the airport make sure you let them use the tablet while plugged into a socket somewhere . Some planes have no USB charging port . Yes I said it... let me repeat it

Meaning we have to go through an 8 hour flight with devices that have only 4 -5 hours of battery ..if that . so be sure to have back up battery packs! Bring your own Toddler headphones for comfort and noise reduction, and a classic airplane headphone jack separator  just in-case you end up on a throwback vintage plane without any modern upgrades . Then you are doomed to have to use their plastic rock solid headphones that have zero comfort in them . Trust me it is pretty common still to this day. There are certain airlines I will completely avoid because of this and the lack of charging availability . Also what else does your child like? Mine loves stickers and princess colouring  books. To be honest she loves anything remotely associate with princesses. She  can entertain herself for a good hour with  stickers alone .

So it's a good backup to vary the entertainment .

I think this tip goes without saying and I can't imagine any mother not already thinking this but I need to stress it .I can name roughly 12 different times I've needed to change my daughters clothing during  a trip .  I had her spill hot chocolate down her outfit during a flight because the flight attendant thought it would be a great idea to give her a rest for being so "good" I've had her have a bathroom accident while she slept on the plane .  (Which was a nightmare) Also airplanes are freezing. They provide you with thin flimsy blankets that do literally nothing to stop the blasting air conditioning coming your way.  We always dress for a cold English day regardless if our destination is a sunny 100 degree Jamaica . Simply because the journey there is always freezing. Plus layers are easy to come off when you arrive at your destination so what's the worry?

 photo airport_zpsx3atjx78.gif

Ever heard of a neck pillow? Well after maybe her second flight I learned my lesson . Seriously you can not fly without one . If your five year old wants to sleep, they need to be comfortable! We all know what an agitated 5year old is like . Let's try and avoid it ! And I'm sure the other passengers will appreciate the quiet .

The great thing about a neck pillow is that it comes with a handy hook that you can just attach to your backpack ! So easy to travel with . As much as I would love to have one too . Remember less is more . One is enough, let the little one enjoy the comfort and you stick to the uncomfortable airplane pillows . Also bring floppy slippers. In a  Long flight it's important to take your shoes off as it helps with circulation. However we all know kids like to sit with their feet up on the seat or sometimes sitting on their own feet or legs crossed . Pretty much every possibly way except the standard way to sit in a seat . I've had numerous air hostesses not so subtly tell my child to remove her feet from the seat . Obviously I don't want her sitting on the plane without shoes .What if she needs to go to the bathroom?  Fiddling around with shoes multiple times in an already tight space is not ideal. The first thing I do is take her shoes off and slip on her slippers . You can also get really thick gripped socks , it's whatever your little one prefers .

Okay so I love overnight flights because bedtime means they will be asleep most of the flight without you having to put in effort to get them to sleep. However sometimes it's not so easy especially if is not a long overnight flight and just a really early one . I've had flights at 5am before. So it's not enough time to get a full nights sleep before getting to the airport. The key is to make them tired . This is going to sound strange but ice don't this many times and it works for me. I will keep my daughter up past her bed time . ( more than likely the excitement of traveling will keep her up anyway)  I'll make sure she's washed and ready to go so all I have to do is wake her up when it's Tim to leave . I will then wake her up  literally five minutes before we are leaving. If I wake her up anytime before she will get bored of waiting and will go back to sleep. Once I wake her up. I fill her head with all the excitement of traveling and how amazing it's going to be on the airplane . This usually gives her a jolt of adrenaline and she's raring to go. At the airport I let her have any kind of sweets or junk she wants. That way she's got a combination of adrenaline plus a sugar rush. By the time she gets on the plane. Sits down and gets settled she usually crashes right away!  It's perfect!

"Located  footsteps away from the beautiful Sand Key Beach, sits the luxurious Marriott hotel" . This hotels key location is what drew me in originally. It's close enough to a quiet beach for my daytime relaxation , but only 5 mins away to the main Clearwater beach where all the night time action resides. It makes the perfect getaway for the family possible... or does it?

My experience at Mariott was not what I expected

September 2016

 photo pool6_zpsz2xks6bm.gif

Initially arriving at the hotel I was displeased with the amount of construction going on . Despite the sweltering heat, I was already a little bothered from the 40 minute drive from the airport. so to arrive at the hotel to find that there was ongoing repairs during our stay, without prior notice that this was going to be happening, did not sit well with me .
I stayed in a family room as I was sharing with my daughter, mother and cousin. The first room they put us in, was a room that had not been upgraded, despite the fact that the hotel was mostly empty as it was off season and the upgraded rooms were the same price.  When entering the room the room had not been fully cleaned  as the fridge had leftover food that did not smell too pretty . Of course I let the front desk know about this and asked to be switched to a room I knew was clean. They were more than happy to accommodate, and they switched us to another non-upgraded room. However, this time the issue was with the door. It did not lock . At this point I was very dissatisfied with the hotel and was ready to complain. I honestly just wanted to relax , get out of the heat and start my vacation . I let the downstairs  desk know and I asked again could they have someone to resolve the issue .
Someone came and spent roughly 20 minutes fixing the door (which I personally feel I should not have had to go through at all). I then looked in the closet to find a completely rusted ironing board  (that I needed to use as we were going out and all my clothes were crushed). The living room and the bedroom connected by a door in the center of the room which seemed to get stuck shut.  After noticing this I was incredibly upset,  so I expressed my concern and asked if we would be moved to a room that had no issues. In which then they finally moved us to a room that had been upgraded. HOTEL REVIEW : MARRIOTT CLEARWATER FLORIDA - WHY I WILL NEVER GO BACK

I did not let that damper my vacation  as the rest of the time spent in this hotel was almost wonderful. I say almost because on the second night there they had a fire drill at 2AM which caused the entire hotel to be evacuated.
I honestly could not make this up if I tried . The entire hotel was standing outside in the sweltering humid heat car park of the hotel. The hotel had nothing to say about this inconvenience we just had to "deal" with it . I had a 4 yr old and a 2 yr  old that had to be dragged out of their sleep for a fire drill. After speaking to other guests they had mentioned it had happened to them two nights prior, We were not pleased at all. HOTEL REVIEW : MARRIOTT CLEARWATER FLORIDA - WHY I WILL NEVER GO BACK

The next morning we head out for some pool time . The pool was breathtaking, perfect for Instagram photos  and  it attached onto the short boardwalk of stores next to the hotel . There's even a Dunkin Donuts less than a foot away, which made my mornings perfect. The poolside bar was great, but I spend more of my money getting drinks in the restaurants nearby during the evening.

 photo food2_zpsxwqt90c6.gif

I had rented a car during my visit, and parking was free in the lot , which was great!
The main Clearwater beach is where I got my beach fix, but Sand Key is literally across the street . I preferred to go to Clearwater because it was much livelier and had more child friendly activities. Plus with Clearwater beach being right in the action of everything , it made me feel like I was enjoying a true family vacation.
I did not experience the restaurant cafe, however I did take full advantage of the snack shop . They brewed quality Starbucks coffee and Tea, and you already know i'm a coffee junkie so it was a match made in heaven.

Aside from the ongoing daily construction they seemed to have a pet parrot in lobby,  although beautiful to look at, the screeching noise of the bird constantly through out the day was completely unnecessary and irritating to say the least.

On the third morning we ordered room service , I was very specific about what I wanted and repeated my order 3 times to the person on the phone , yet they brought me the wrong meal and overcharged me . I let the front desk know in which they were happy to remove the charges from the room bill. HOTEL REVIEW : MARRIOTT CLEARWATER FLORIDA - WHY I WILL NEVER GO BACK

There were no kids activities or anything of the sort  during our stay , but i'm assuming that was due to it being off-season. I didn't mind as we already had things planned at the beach .

 photo clearwater-beach_zpsv6bydr4w.gif

Overall my experience at the Marriott Clearwarter beach was DISSATISFYING, It's a shame as I love Marriott hotels have stayed in plenty in the past. I would never return to this particular location for a family vacation.

 photo me-in-poool_zpsd3jga3py.gif

It's sad that i'm writing a review that is less than positive , however aside from the several hiccups, I enjoyed my time in the beautiful Tampa Florida and will for sure be returning to the city.

How to make the perfect summer Pimms- Tips from Bohemias head chef Steve Smith

Tips for the perfect Summer Pimms-

How To Make The Perfect Summer Pimms

Summer in England has approached faster than we thought!  It’s time for the perfect BBQs , fun in the sun, family time and of course Drinks! In true English style you should celebrate with a refreshing jug of Pimms!
The quintessentially English beverage boasts a recognizable tawny colour and a delicious blend of citrus fruits, offering a familiar taste of summer.
But how can we make the perfect jug with an effortless taste?

Bohemia’s Head Chef Steve Smith has provided a round-up of top tips to ensure you’re serving the perfect party Pimms this sunny season.

  • 1.    Fruit Fusion

Don’t overload your Pimms with fruit. Instead, pick a few strong flavours that complement each other. An unusual flavour combination that works well is Pomegranate and Basil. Alternatively, take your Pimms to super food heights with the quirky addition of trendy Acai berries.

  • 2.    Herbal Remedy

If you’re using herbs such as basil and mint, crush the leaves before adding them to your drink. This will maximise the aroma and leave your Pimms perfectly seasoned.

  • 3.     Cue the Cranberry

Those with a sweet tooth might like to add a splash of cranberry juice, or opt for flavoured lemonade for an extra boost.

  • 4.    Ice, Ice, Baby

Get creative with your ice by freezing flowers into your ice cube tray. However, try to limit the ice to a few cubes to ensure the Pimms isn’t too diluted by the time it comes to drinking it!

  • 5.     Sugar-coat it

Sprinkle a little lemon juice and sugar over the fruit before you add them to your drink. Let the fruit pieces stand for ten minutes so they macerate and then add them to the liquid at the last minute, to save them from going soggy.

Exclusive menu tasting event at Café Rouge Mailbox

Hey everyone!

This week I was kindly invited to a Summer menu tasting event at the prestigious French restaurant Café Rouge. It's located in the heart of The Birmingham Mailbox , with stunning views of the city center.
mailbox birmingham Cafe Rouge , by abbigayle warner

We started off our night with a taste of their Gins , I tried out the Elderflower , then followed with a much greener alternative the Cucumber and Watermelon 👌🏾
They then provided us with some mini starters which looked too good to eat !
Following this we grabbed a sampler plate of various meats and cheese, the perfect compliment to our gin .
For my main I ordered the Sirloin Steak Frites , which was made to perfection . I like my steak well done and sometimes chefs can over cook the meat , then it becomes bards to eat . However this steak was fantastic . I paired this with red wine , honestly not my cup of tea , nevertheless it was nice to try .
I then opted for a French Garden Fizz Mocktail , which was hands down the best drink of the night !
Following this we enjoyed a dessert sampler which featured a mini taster of their best desserts!

Overall my experience at this restaurant was great and I could not recommend it more .

I posted on my Instagram story throughout the night which you can watch here
